As per Erideka Safaris Kenya Itinerary
Lake Nakuru National Park is home to a vast number of bird species, most notably huge flocks of flamingos – they have been known to number in their millions, though the lake has seen a decrease in recent times. Lake Nakuru is one of the Rift Valley lakes, and the birds are attracted to the high levels of algae in the water. Pelicans, cormorants, the African fish eagles, Verreaux’s eagles, Goliath herons and hammerkops are also seen around the lake. In addition, you can spot black and white rhinos, Rothschild’s giraffes, lions and cheetahs throughout the national park.
In this park lie the shimmering waters of Lake Nakuru which is packed with pink flamingoes.
Lake Nakuru National Park is also the first rhino sanctuary in Kenya, and it was established right after the rhinos became an endangered species. The park hosts a large population of them.
The park supports a wide ecological diversity with flamingoes (greater and lesser) and other water birds being the major attractions of the area. The ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of mammals, including the white rhino and buffaloes, and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering nearly 450 species.
