Set 2 km west of the main gate in the unpleasantly busy and soiled Mara Talek area of the Maasai Mara in southwest Kenya, Basecamp Mara is a reasonably decent lodge with a strong environmental ethos, but which suffers greatly from the disadvantages of the area.
