There are plenty of reasons Amboseli is such a popular park—we’ve already mentioned the photographic presence of Kilimanjaro, but did you know that this park may be the best place in Africa, if not the world, for viewing free-ranging elephants? The light terrain of the park combined with the great numbers of elephants here guarantees you will see them as they parade in their imposing herds.
Activities
Day 1
Nairobi – Amboseli National Park (240 km: Approx. 4 hrs drive)
At 07:30 hrs, your driver/guide will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel, residence or Nairobi airport and the journey of your beginning to Amboseli Park along the Nairobi-Mombasa Road. Along the way, we’ll take in the African sun rising over the savannah. Look for local homesteads and the Maasai herdsmen in their colorful wraps, tending to their cattle.
Even before you arrive at Amboseli, you’ll be guided by the unmistakable summit of Kilimanjaro, drawing you to the park. We’ll arrive in time for lunch at your lodge or tented camp. After fortifying ourselves, we’ll venture out on our first game drive looking for elephant, lion, zebra, giraffe, cheetah, ostrich and so many others. Amboseli is known as a park where the wildlife viewing is easy and abundant. The lack of dense foliage helps safari-goers and their expert guides to more quickly spot the park’s many and diverse animals. The reserve is also a photographer’s dream, framed by the snowy flanks and summit of Kilimanjaro. Toward the evening and sometimes early morning, the daytime clouds obscuring this tallest peak, drift off giving lucky viewers a stuffing view of the mountain’s iconic summit.
At night we spend the night in the park at your choice of safari lodge or tented camp. We have variety of accommodation depending on your budget, style, and taste.
Day 2
Amboseli – Nairobi: 240 km: 4 hrs drive
We’ll be up at the safari dawn to catch the wildlife as if first enters the new day. This pre-breakfast game drive is a special time to take in the park as the first light brings color to the savannah and its stirring inhabitants. After breakfast at our accommodation, we’ll set out for a mid-morning drive to see how many more of the large and small wildlife we can track. If you haven’t spotted them already look for hyena, jackal, fox, monkey, and baboon. And of course, the big game, with whom they share this wonderous place of nature. Lunch will wrap up our Amboseli experience before we head back to Nairobi. You’ve experienced a lot of Africa in just two days with plenty of memories and stories to bring back home.
We should arrive back in Nairobi at about 16:30 hrs. (4:30 PM) for drop off at your hotel, residence or the airport. Also note that you have an option to being dropped off at the Kenya/Tanzania border town of Namanga if you are proceeding to Arusha or Moshi. Just let us know at the time of booking.
