Enjoying a unique setting overlooking a watering hole in the heart of Kenya’s Tsavo East National Park, Satao Camp delivers the ultimate safari experience: thrilling adventure and impeccable service. The Camp is a true oasis that attracts thousands of animals for their daily drinking and bathing.
Tsavo East is Kenya’s largest protected area and the sheer abundance of wildlife is breathtaking. So whether enjoying game viewing from one of our open game viewing vehicles or watching herds of elephants bathe from the privacy of your verandah, your time at Satao will create memories to last a lifetime.
Nestled amongst trees and surrounding a central water hole, the semi-circular layout of the camp provides an excellent viewing point for each of our guests. Satao Camp has 20 tents, all e-suite, thoughtfully positioned to ensure a full view of the camp's “own” watering hole.

The sight of dust-red elephants wallowing, rolling, and spraying each other with the midnight blue waters of the palm-shaded Galana River is one of the most evocative images in Africa. This, along with the 300-kilometer-long Yatta Plateau, the longest lava flow in the world, make for an adventure unlike any other in the Tsavo East National Park. The park forms the largest protected area in Kenya and is home to most of the larger mammals, vast herds of dust –red elephant, Rhino, buffalo, lion, leopard, pods of hippo, crocodile, waterbucks, lesser Kudu, gerenuk, and the prolific bird life features 500 recorded species.
